Basic Computer Games

Bcg

Published in 1973, Basic Computer Games was a compilation of type-in computer games written in the BASIC programming language by various computer hobbyists, professionals and academics.

Edited by David Ahl and publshed by Creative Computing, it was a joy even without a computer thanks to its whimsical Rube-Golderb-esque cartoon-robot illustrations drawn by George Becker.

The book sold over a million copies, ushered in the era of type-in programs and inspired a generation of young computer enthusiasts not to take computers so seriously.
